Dr. J. Nichole Chavis
“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
- Mahatma Ghandi
Dr. Chavis grew up in the upstate of SC in a small town outside of Clemson called Walhalla. After high school, she attended Clemson University and then went on to get her veterinary degree from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL. Since graduation in 2005, she has worked primarily in the Lowcountry.
Her love of her job is centered around educating owners and helping them provide the best care possible for their pets. The community of Holly Hill and surrounding areas has been so welcoming and warm that it feels like “home”. To her, the biggest challenge in veterinary medicine is the desire of owners to provide excellent care to their pets and the financial constraints of a budget that often prevents optimal care.
Dr. Chavis lives on Johns Island with her husband, 2 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats. When she’s not at work, she loves to be outside. She enjoys doing lots of activities with her kids, pulling for the Clemson Tigers and binge-watching Netflix shows. She is also a self-professed nerd and loves learning every day.
